The court sentenced two Ukrainians for high treason due to cooperation with the Russian FSB

The court sentenced two Ukrainians who passed on data about Ukrainian military units to the enemy, sentencing them to life imprisonment, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

Following the case’s outcome, during a public indictment by the prosecutors’ offices of the Sumy and Odessa regions, both men were found guilty of committing high treason under martial law. The verdict was announced on December 26, 2025.

The investigation established that one of the convicts, a 35-year-old man from Sumy region, during his military service, starting in November 2022, collected information about the locations of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ammunition warehouses, and other military facilities, which he transmitted to an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation via messenger.

After moving to the Donetsk region, he continued to send the collected information, involving a 49-year-old acquaintance from the Odessa region in this process, who also provided data on the basing of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Odessa region.

According to law enforcement officials, this data was used to carry out air strikes on the territories of the Zhytomyr, Donetsk, and Odessa regions. In addition, both men tried to recruit other people to cooperate with the aggressor.

The detention took place on January 30, 2023, as part of a special operation. Since then, the suspects have been in custody at the prosecutor’s office’s discretion.
