Underground school exposed in Holosiiv: children were taught according to USSR programs
The press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, together with investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine, has launched a pre-trial investigation based on information provided by journalists.
The investigation concerns the activities of an illegal school operating on the territory of one of the monasteries in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. The proceedings have been opened under Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the information, children were taught in this institution using Soviet textbooks and were also forced to sing Soviet songs.
Law enforcement officers are trying to determine the circumstances of the establishment of this educational institution, the sources of its financing, and whether the children attended state schools in accordance with the law.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are reviewing all aspects of the incident; once completed, a legal assessment will be provided in accordance with criminal law.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
