About 15 thousand Christmas trees and numerous violations: results of forest raids in Poltava region
During the winter holiday period, a significant increase in Christmas tree sales was observed in the Myrhorod and Poltava districts. Foresters sold more than 14.8 thousand trees. However, the holiday season did not pass without incidents.
According to the Slobozhansk Forest Office, during the New Year holidays, commercial demand for coniferous trees in the region increased. In total, 14,855 Christmas trees were sold, of which the largest number was 7,116 in the Myrhorod district, and 4,071 in the Poltava district.
Experts note that interest in legal Christmas trees remains stable, as consumers increasingly choose official points of sale. This helps reduce the scale of illegal logging and contributes to the restoration of forest resources.
However, the holiday period was not without offenses. Before the New Year, forest guards intensified patrols of forest plantations. During this period, 236 raids were conducted, resulting in 46 administrative reports. According to foresters, the damage caused to the environment exceeded 144 thousand hryvnias.
Specialists from the Slobozhansk Forest Office emphasize that forest protection will remain a priority and that offenders will be held accountable for their actions.
Illegal logging was also discovered in the regional landscape park in Transcarpathia, where the aforementioned actions caused significant environmental damage.
