Lifestyle trends that are dangerous for health: how they stress the body

For the year 2026, you should be careful with fashionable trends in the field of healthy lifestyle from the Internet, which have no scientific confirmation and do not bring real benefits. Such practices not only fail to deliver the expected results but can also cause stress and overload the body, the New York Post notes.

Cleansing from parasites

The famous German model Heidi Klum shocked her fans by announcing she would undergo a cleansing regimen to rid herself of worms and parasites. “I decided to try deworming for the first time, because I heard that such a procedure should be done once a year, but I had never done it before,” shared 52-year-old Klum.

She didn’t say which cleanse she chose, but mentioned that its ingredients included cloves and papaya seeds. Gastroenterologist David Purow explained that there is no reliable evidence of the effectiveness of such procedures. Most people do not have parasites, and it is better to consult a specialist rather than self-medicate.

Predominant consumption of protein

Many foods sold in stores are fortified with protein. This is another marketing gimmick associated with the popularity of diets such as keto or low-carb. However, it is important to maintain a balanced diet.

Such foods should not replace fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, which provide fiber and other important nutrients our diet often lacks.

Fibermaxing

The term “fibermaxing” has become a trend aimed at ensuring a sufficient level of fiber intake. However, excessive consumption can cause digestive problems such as bloating and cramping. Too much fiber can also interfere with the absorption of important minerals such as iron, calcium, and zinc. It is recommended that women consume about 25 grams of fiber per day and men consume about 38 grams per day.

Mouth taping

Mouth taping is a method in which a special elastic tape is applied to the lips to stimulate nasal breathing during sleep, supposedly reducing snoring and improving sleep quality. However, this method has no scientific basis. Moreover, it can increase the risk of suffocation and impair sleep quality.
