Pensions will be recalculated in January: what will be the new minimum and maximum payments

From the beginning of 2026, automatic pension transfers will be introduced in Ukraine, which will be linked to the growth of the subsistence minimum. Pensioners will not have to submit any applications, because the new amounts will be calculated without their appeals to the Pension Fund.

As reported by the Pension Fund, such changes are due to updated budget data. The living wage for unemployed citizens will increase, affecting all payments and allowances tied to it. The minimum pension will increase from 2,361 to 2,595 hryvnias, and the maximum will increase as well.

According to Ukrainian legislation, the maximum pension cannot exceed ten times the subsistence minimum. In 2026, this will mean a limit of 25,950 hryvnias, up from 23,610, for calculating maximum payments.

A separate recalculation will be made for veterans. Their allowances range from 10 to 50 percent of the living wage, depending on status, so the increase is automatic. Pensioners with special merits will also receive additional funds — their supplements will range from 20 to 40 percent, while persons with outstanding merits can count on 70 percent of the subsistence minimum.

Pensioners with overtime experience will also receive a raise. For each additional year of service, 1 percent will be added to the pension, but no more than 1 percent of the minimum. As a result, the maximum surcharge will increase from 23.61 hryvnias to 25.95 hryvnias.
