$18,000 for dismissal from service: Kyiv woman faces legal action

A woman will appear in court in Kyiv after promising a conscript $18,000 to avoid further military service. She claimed she could organize a scheme to have the man declared unfit for military service due to health reasons.

According to the Desnyan District Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment has been filed with the court. The suspect’s actions constitute an attempt to influence decision-making by state officials (Part 3, Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation revealed that the woman assured the serviceman that he could be hospitalized in a medical unit even without proper grounds. After that, it was planned that the man would be sent to one of the capital’s medical institutions, where doctors would have to make a diagnosis that would declare him unfit for military service.

The final stage of the plan was to remove the conscript from military records.

The prosecutor’s office notes that all these actions lacked legal basis and were an attempt to interfere with the decision-making process of civil servants.

The woman faces criminal liability and, if found guilty, may be sentenced to imprisonment. The trial will take place in Kyiv in the near future.
