The CCC plans to strengthen military registration of citizens: what to expect

In Poltava, rumors surfaced about Central Military District employees allegedly passing information to the police about men applying for administrative services. However, the city council denied this, noting that some local media and misleading residents distorted the newsents.

City hall explained that the executive committee considered only information from the territorial recruitment and social support center regarding the status of military registration. These explanations were published on the city council’s official website.

This is a decision of the executive committee dated January 9, 2026, which takes into account the data of the Poltava Regional Military Commissariat on the state of military registration in 2025 and proposals for its improvement in 2026. Among these proposals is the sending of lists of violators of mobilization legislation to the relevant authorities.

At the same time, the City Council noted that such wording is purely informational, does not impose any obligations, does not change the current rules, and has no legal consequences.

It was also indicated that the decision to “take note” cannot serve as a basis for new mechanisms to control or detect evasion of mobilization.

The City Council emphasized that the ASCs do not have law enforcement functions. Their task is limited to the provision of administrative services and the receipt of documents in accordance with current legislation, including matters related to military registration.

As a result, representatives of the City Council noted that the cooperation of the ASCs with the CCC and the SP is exclusively service in nature and concerns serving citizens, in particular, the receipt of applications for deferment from military service in accordance with the law on military duty and military service.
