In Lviv region, the head of a law enforcement department will be tried for paying salaries to an absent subordinate

The head of one of the law enforcement agencies in the Lviv region will stand trial for abuse of office.

According to the investigation, he had accrued the salary of an employee who did not actually perform her duties for several years. The State Bureau of Investigation reported this information.

Investigators have completed a pre-trial investigation into an official who deliberately ignored his subordinate’s prolonged absence from work.

It turned out that from 2023 to 2025, the woman did not appear at work for months, yet the manager systematically signed documents to accrue her salary and additional payments in full.

The State Bureau of Investigation noted that the official was aware of the subordinate’s personal relationship with top management of the regional structure, and that this was why he deliberately “turned a blind eye” to her absence from work. Thus, he made an unlawful payment of state funds.

As a result of his actions, the state suffered losses of more than 680 thousand hryvnias due to the payment of illegal salaries and bonuses.

The indictment has already been submitted to the court. The official is charged with a violation stipulated in Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of official position. If his guilt is proven, he faces up to six years in prison.

The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office is supervising the proceedings in this case.
