Magnetic storm forecast for January 31
On January 31, Earth will experience solar activity with a K-index of 4.3, which corresponds to the yellow level and medium magnetic storms.
The Space Weather Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States provided this information.
It is expected that significant magnetic storms will not threaten the planet on this day.
Over the past day, seven C-class flares were observed on the Sun, which do not have a significant impact on Earth.
“Magnetic storms can hurt human health. Notifications of magnetic storms help reduce the risks of conditions such as heart attacks and strokes in the days leading up to these solar events,” the statement said.
Recently, on November 29, the magnetic storm decreased to the green level, with a K-index of 3.7, as reported by meteorological agencies and the British Geological Survey. The solar wind speed remains elevated due to the effects of two coronal holes but is gradually returning to normal levels.
