Seizure of tax evaders’ property: which assets will be seized first?

After the materials on the violation of military registration are transferred to the state bailiff service, a citizen may face not only administrative penalties but also more serious consequences.

The legal portal Protocol.ua explained which specific assets may be subject to seizure.

Violations of the rules of military registration are considered administrative offenses, for which a fine is initially imposed. If a person does not pay it within the specified period, these materials are transferred to the bailiff service for forced collection.

After opening enforcement proceedings, state bailiffs first check whether the debtor has open bank accounts or other property. As a rule, funds in accounts are subject to priority seizure, as they can be automatically blocked quickly.

Unlike money, the seizure of real estate, cars, or other valuable property is not instantaneous. Such measures can be applied if the debt grows or if the fine remains unpaid for a long time. The law allows bailiffs to impose restrictions on the use of property and to seize it for further forced collection.

To cancel the imposed restrictions, the violator must repay the debt by paying the fine first. Failure to pay it serves as the basis for blocking accounts and other enforcement actions. After full payment, the arrests can be lifted in accordance with the established procedures.
