Effective ways to deal with a hangover: save it for the morning
Gazeta.ua provides useful tips to alleviate a hangover. The main thing is to provide the body with enough water, because with dehydration, the process of removing ethanol decay products slows down.
During a hangover, it is necessary to drink water in small portions, as with any poisoning. This condition often accompanies stormy celebrations: some people have mild symptoms, while others suffer from severe headaches, nausea, and lethargy. Usually, the morning after drinking alcohol does not bring the most pleasant sensations.
Warm tea with honey (if there are no allergies), broths, and natural juices can be useful healing agents. To remove toxins, it is advisable to use enterosorbents, such as activated charcoal or its modern analogues, such as Smecta, Enterosgel, or Polysorb. However, it is important to remember that they should be taken with caution, as they can reduce the effectiveness of other drugs.
Aspirin can help with headaches, but it is best to take it no earlier than six hours after drinking alcohol. To support the nervous system, light herbal remedies such as valerian or stinging nettle are effective, reducing anxiety and improving sleep quality. However, strong sedatives are not recommended to be taken with alcohol.
Some people find that succinic acid helps by stimulating metabolic processes, but it should not be used for gastritis or ulcers. Magnesium-based preparations (such as magnesia or Panangin) can also support heart activity and reduce headaches.
Contrast showers, brine, mint tea, and lemon drinks are popular among home remedies. Light broth helps restore the stomach, and eggs, due to their amino acid content, can speed up recovery.
It is important to remember: a hangover is the body’s reaction to intoxication caused by alcohol. It disrupts sleep quality, leads to dehydration, and strains internal organs. The best way to avoid trouble is to be moderate during the celebrations and drink plenty of water.
