Cancellation of gas supply fees: who will not have to pay?

Since the beginning of 2026, the next recalculation of the distribution gas fee has been applied to household consumers. This concerns the monthly delivery fee, which is paid not for the gas itself, but for network use and the transportation of fuel to homes.

According to the information in the resource “On Retirement”, the monthly payment amount is determined individually. It depends on two main factors: the regional tariff and actual consumption in the previous gas year.

How the amount on the bill is formed

The gas delivery fee is reviewed once a year, based on data from the gas year, which runs from October 1 to September 30 of the following year. So, in 2026, the volumes of gas consumed from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025, will be taken into account.

To independently calculate the future monthly payment, you should:

determine the total volume of gas consumed for the previous gas year (in cubic meters);
Multiply this figure by the current distribution tariff in your region.
Divide the resulting amount by 12 to get the monthly fee.
This will determine a fixed monthly fee that will be valid throughout the next gas year. Information on consumption volumes can be found in your personal account on your gas distribution operator’s website.

When you can avoid the fee

In 2026, some consumer categories may be exempt from the gas delivery fee. In particular, the charge is not made in the following cases:

If the housing was destroyed or seriously damaged as a result of hostilities, and the gas supply was stopped due to the dangerous state of the networks. In this case, a document from the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations must be provided.
If an accident occurred as a result of shelling or other consequences of war, the charge is stopped from the moment the gas supply is officially disconnected.
Suppose the gas system is disconnected mechanically. The charge is stopped from the beginning of the next month after the disconnection.
