Roadworks: what places are allowed to stop to avoid a fine

Road works involve not only technical means, but also compliance with certain rules by drivers. Improper stopping can lead to a fine.

According to paragraph 15.9 (g) of the Traffic Rules, if sign 1.37 “Road works” is installed, drivers are prohibited from stopping closer than 10 meters from the repair zone. Violation of this rule can have serious consequences.

A clear example: place A is too close to the works, where stopping is prohibited. On the other hand, positions B and C are located at a safe distance, which allows parking there without violations. It is important to maintain a distance of 10 meters.

These situations are often used to test drivers’ knowledge, because the rules are created not only for formality, but to ensure safety on the road. During repairs, the road situation may change: special equipment appears, the passage narrows, and traffic becomes less predictable.

“Maintaining a distance during road works is a matter of safety, not just fines,” explain the police.

Indeed, one unsuccessful stop can create a dangerous situation for other road users.

We remind you that in 2025, changes are expected in the automotive sector: drivers should be prepared for innovations. It is also planned to discuss car models that can negatively affect the financial situation of owners.
