Pension recalculation for working pensioners: features of the increase in 2026
After the annual pension indexation, many Ukrainians are wondering whether the increase applies to those who work after retirement. According to the information that is being disseminated, different rules for calculating payments apply to working pensioners.
Pensioners who receive a pension under the standard formula are also entitled to indexation. In 2026, the indexation is projected at 12.1%, which aligns with the indicators for most other pensioners.
However, it is important to note that during a pensioner’s official work, social supplements to the subsistence level are usually not revised. These supplements constitute the so-called “minimum pension”.
This means that if there is work, some state guarantees that provide for increased minimum payments, such as 3406, 3725, or 4213 hryvnias, depending on the person’s age and insurance experience, are not used.
An additional increase in payments for working pensioners
In addition to indexation, working pensioners can also take advantage of another mechanism to increase their pensions. This is an automatic pension recalculation, which occurs every year from April 1.
This recalculation is carried out once every two years if, after the appointment of a pension, a person has accumulated at least 24 months of insurance experience. In this case, a new experience is added to the calculation, which may increase the amount of monthly payments.
It is necessary to take pensioners into account.
Therefore, working pensioners receive indexation on a general basis, but part of the social guarantees for them will not be valid until the moment of dismissal. After that, a review of additional payments can be conducted.
By choosing to work after retirement, citizens gain another advantage: the accumulation of additional insurance experience, which may positively affect future pension payments.
