How to obtain the status of a large family and what are the possible payments in Ukraine
In Ukraine, there is a state program to support large families. The legislation regulates which families receive this status, as well as what benefits are available to parents and their children. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
Criteria for a large family
A large family is considered a family in which the parents are in a registered marriage, live together and raise three or more children. The calculation includes both joint children and children from previous marriages.
A single father raising three or more children can also become a large family.
A large family can include children under 23 years of age who are studying full-time in educational institutions. The status continues until the end of their studies.
How to confirm the status of a large family
The status of a large family is confirmed by a special certificate issued by local government bodies or Centers for the Provision of Administrative Services.
To apply, you must submit an application along with a package of documents, which includes:
a photo of one of the parents;
copies of children’s birth certificates;
a copy of the marriage certificate (if any);
copies of parents’ passports;
documents confirming the upbringing and residence of children;
a certificate from an educational institution for children aged 18 to 23;
a document for permanent residence for foreigners.
Social benefits for large families
According to the Ukrainian legislation “On the Protection of Childhood”, large families are entitled to various social benefits, including:
50% discount on housing payments within certain norms;
50% discount on utilities;
50% discount on fuel for households without central heating.
In this case, benefits are provided provided that the average monthly income per person in the family does not exceed the established limit, which is determined for receiving tax social benefits.
Benefits for children from large families
Children from large families also enjoy a number of additional rights. Among them:
free receipt of prescription medications;
annual medical examinations;
primary medical care;
free travel on public transport;
free services for health and recreation.
Thus, the status of a large family provides families with the opportunity to receive various social guarantees and financial discounts from the state.
