Pensioners will barely feel indexation: the increase in payments will be only 2.4%

This year, pensions are planned to be indexed at 12.1%. However, not all Ukrainian pensioners will receive these increases in full, since for some categories the increase coefficient will be lower.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 236, adopted on February 25, 2026, the specified indexation coefficient will be applied only to the basic pension amount, excluding additional payments and allowances. However, the practice of indexation has its own peculiarities.

Only those pensioners who retired before 2020 will receive full indexation with a coefficient of 1.121. For persons who began receiving a pension in the period from 2021 to 2025, reduced coefficients have been established:

1.061 (6.1%) for pensions issued in 2021 and 2022;

1.048 (4.8%) for pensions issued in 2023;
1,036 (3.6%) for pensions issued in 2024;
1,024 (2.4%) for pensions issued in 2025.
Such a differentiated approach was introduced to gradually smooth out the gaps in the size of pensions assigned in different years.

In addition, indexation limits have been established: the minimum increase cannot be less than 100 hryvnias, and the maximum increase will not exceed 2,595 hryvnias.

It was also previously reported that pensions for Ukrainians were indexed, and that pensioners would be provided with an additional payment of 1,000 hryvnias, but to receive such assistance, it is necessary to go through some procedures. The reasons for the suspension of social payments for certain persons were also indicated.
