The heating season will end, regardless of weather conditions: Ukrainians were asked to prepare

In Ukraine, there is a serious threat of an early end to the heating season due to the debts of heating and power utilities to gas suppliers. From March 28, some companies may be disconnected from gas supply, which may actually lead to the cessation of heat supply.

People’s Deputy Oleksiy Kucherenko stated this situation on the air of the TV channel. He noted that Naftogaz’s actions may deprive Ukrainians of heating even before the end of the official season, which will become a serious problem, because in many regions, despite the arrival of spring, the nights remain cold.

The cause of this crisis was the accumulation of significant debts of heating and power utilities. In the event of a heat supply shutdown in cities, this will lead to significant inconvenience for the population, especially for vulnerable groups, such as children and pensioners.

Experts point out that this situation is a consequence of years of accumulated debts in the heat supply sector, in particular, due to financial difficulties associated with tariff policy and lack of funds at utility companies. There have been no official comments from Naftogaz regarding possible large-scale shutdowns so far, but there is a possibility of targeted measures against the most problematic debtor companies.

Oleksiy Kucherenko also called on citizens to be prepared for a possible cold snap and monitor weather conditions. He stressed the importance of finding systemic solutions to heat supply arrears in order to avoid such situations in the future.

Decisions on the end of the heating season are, as usual, made by local authorities based on monitoring temperature indicators and the technical condition of heat supply systems in the regions.
