Pensioners are offered 100% discounts on utility services: who is eligible to receive them?
Rural pensioners are offered the opportunity to receive a full discount on utility services, but a number of conditions must be met for this.
According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, in 2026, a certain category of people will be able to completely avoid paying for basic utility services, provided that they meet certain criteria.
At the moment, we are talking about those who worked in rural areas and have the necessary experience. The minimum requirement is 3 years in the relevant position. This list includes teachers, medical workers, pharmacists, cultural workers, librarians and specialists in the field of plant protection. These categories of the population can take advantage of the benefit.
However, it is important to note that to receive a 100% discount, you must not only have the appropriate experience, but also confirm residence in the village, and submit an application along with documents. Additionally, it must be taken into account that income cannot exceed 4,660 hryvnias per person for the last six months.
The discount will be valid for 12 months from the date of registration and applies only to the pensioner himself, so it does not cover the costs of all family members.
“This decision was made in order to reduce the financial pressure from utility bills on people with low incomes,” experts note.
Indeed, especially in rural areas, financial resources are often limited, despite the high costs.
The state is trying to financially support those who have worked in key areas for many years, but now have small incomes. Although the conditions are clear, for many this can be a real opportunity to save.
Finally, let us recall that it was previously reported that pensioners will be provided with a 100% discount on utility services under important conditions from the PFU.
