Up to 8,500 hryvnias per family: one type of financial support for Ukrainians has been increased

In Ukraine, the amount of funeral assistance has increased – now it will be 8,500 hryvnias, instead of the previous 4,100. This became known from the message of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

This financial support is intended for families of deceased persons who were insured or were dependent on a relative. The increase in the amount of assistance more than doubled – according to the resolution of the PFU Board of Directors dated February 6, 2026, the assistance increased in order to partially cover funeral expenses.

The new rules will come into force on March 13, 2026. This decision is due to the increase in the cost of organizing funerals, which required adjusting social payments in accordance with the current economic situation.

In addition, not all relatives are entitled to receive assistance. This funding is intended for the spouse, parents, grandparents, children, brothers, sisters and grandchildren of the deceased. It is important that these persons must be fully dependent on the deceased and have no income of their own. Also, any persons who actually paid for the burial can receive the payment.

The procedure for receiving funds depends on the status of the deceased. If the person was employed, you need to contact the employer, who must submit an application to the Pension Fund within five working days after the application. The application can be submitted both in paper form and electronically, and the funds will be transferred by the fund within three working days.

If the deceased was a pensioner or unemployed, or died at work, the family must independently contact the local branch of the Pension Fund of Ukraine to receive assistance.
