Frosts and rains on Easter: when to wait for warmth
Forecaster Natalka Didenko reported that rain and cool weather are expected in Ukraine on Easter, although the air temperature will slightly increase compared to previous days.
According to forecasts, on April 11, the daytime temperature will be only +4…+9°C, while on Sunday, April 12, the thermometer will rise to +8…+12°C, and in the east of the country – to +14°C. Most regions expect rain, so Ukrainians should have umbrellas with them. However, the southern regions, in particular the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhia regions and some areas of the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, may remain without precipitation.
Rain is forecast in Kyiv on Easter, especially in the afternoon. At night, the temperature will fluctuate within +1…+3°C, and during clearings, frosts from 0 to -2°C are possible. During the day, the air will warm up to +8…+9°C.
Vitaly Postrygan, head of the Cherkasy Regional Hydrometeorological Center, noted that the peak of the cooling was observed on April 10–11, when frosts of 0–3°C were recorded at night, and during the day the temperature remained at 4–9 degrees Celsius. Such weather conditions are caused by the influence of the Rapunzel cyclone, which leads to dense cloudiness and does not allow the air to warm up. In some places, rain and sleet are possible.
On Easter, the situation will stabilize slightly thanks to the anticyclone Quirin, which will provide more clearings and a decrease in wind. However, night frosts will remain, and during the day the temperature will rise to 7–12°C.
Forecasts indicate that from the beginning of next week, a gradual warming will begin in Ukraine, and temperature indicators will return to more usual values for mid-spring.
