Real estate fraud in Kyiv: notaries rewrote apartments and land for large sums

In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have charged three participants in a major fraud scheme. Using forged documents, the perpetrators illegally re-registered an apartment and three land plots in the village of Kryukivshchyna, which belonged to a family from Kyiv region.

It turned out that the organizer of this fraudulent scheme is a 43-year-old man working in real estate. He learned about the departure of the owner of these assets abroad and transferred the land plots to her parents. Taking advantage of this, he made fake powers of attorney that allegedly gave him the right to dispose of the apartment and plots.

The assets were later sold to fake persons, and later ended up with a relative of the organizer. In order to complicate the tracking of the property, the land plots were repeatedly combined and divided, changing their cadastral numbers.

The apartment was also tried to be resold several times to people who were connected to the organizer of the transaction. All actions were accompanied by a notary, who, as it turned out, was familiar with the main figure.

The investigation established that the total amount of losses is 3.7 million hryvnias. Currently, all property has been seized.

The organizer of the fraud, his relative and the notary have been suspected. The court has already received a motion to choose a preventive measure in the form of arrest.

If proven guilty, the suspects face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
