Scandal in the forestry: ex-head to be tried for overpayment of over UAH 1.6 million for timber

Law enforcement agencies have completed an investigation into the former head of the state enterprise “Lymanskyi lishosp” in Donetsk region. The investigation found that his actions caused significant financial losses to the state budget.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into the former head of a forestry enterprise, which is part of the system of the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.

Between December 2023 and February 2024, the forestry enterprise concluded a number of agreements with a private company for the supply of wood. The total volume of delivered products amounted to approximately 3 thousand cubic meters, and this wood was intended to meet the needs of the population of front-line areas.

However, during the inspection, law enforcement officers found that the prices for products in the concluded contracts were significantly overstated. Despite this, the head of the enterprise agreed to these conditions and signed the agreements, acting in the interests of private business.

Such actions led to losses of the state budget in the amount of more than 1.6 million hryvnias.

The former head of the forestry is accused of abuse of office, which caused serious consequences. According to the legislation, he faces up to six years in prison.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office is conducting the procedural management in this case.

It is also worth noting that in the Carpathian region, law enforcement officers discovered the consequences of illegal actions: more than 13 thousand felled trees, more than 200 hectares of damaged forests and losses exceeding 731 million hryvnias.
