Zelensky could have agreed in Syria to use Russian weapons against Russians, expert believes

In his blog, the expert notes that Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Syria marks the intensification of Ukrainian diplomacy in the Middle East. This step symbolizes the restoration of ties, the expansion of Ukraine’s cooperation and efforts to minimize Russian influence in the region. For Syria, according to him, Ukraine is a convenient partner, as it allows Damascus to distance itself from the conflict with the United States.

Expert Oleksandr Musienko believes that the negotiations discussed the issue of supplying weapons left in the warehouse, which, in particular, may include Russian ammunition and shells suitable for weapons used by the Ukrainian military. He emphasizes that as a result, we will be able to strike at Russian troops using the weapons that Russia provided to the Assad regime.

Musienko emphasizes that Russia provided various loans to Syria, which were then written off, similar to those provided to Venezuela. The expert notes that the situation looks paradoxical, because the financial costs were large, but the results are not visible. He also draws attention to the difficult situation of Russians, who are experiencing increased repression and limited freedom.
