Will increase mobilization and frequency of checks of every citizen

The Verkhovna Rada deputies are actively working on discussing potential changes to the mobilization system, in particular regarding the expansion of the police’s functions in terms of controlling military registration. These changes are aimed at improving the interaction of law enforcement officers with citizens of draft age.

MP Ruslan Gorbenko, who is a member of the Committee on National Security and Defense, noted that the Armed Forces need additional personnel. Because of this, the government is considering ways to improve the notification and monitoring system.

At the moment, the police carry out checks of the search for individuals at checkpoints and in cooperation with territorial recruitment centers. However, the possibility of expanding these functions is being discussed. Among the proposed changes:

Law enforcement officers will be able to check citizens’ documents not only during special events, but also during regular work, as well as have access to state registers for quick data verification.
In the event of violations, such as the lack of up-to-date information or a search by a territorial recruitment center, the police will have the right to deliver individuals to recruitment centers to clarify data.
This means that any interaction with the police, for example, when stopping a driver for violating the rules, may be accompanied by a check of his military record. Similar mechanisms can be applied in other cases of administrative control.

Gorbenko indicated that such changes can significantly increase the efficiency of the system, since the police have the opportunity to obtain the necessary information about citizens.

However, at this point, there is no final decision yet. Some deputies express some caution, given the possible reaction of society and the risks of implementing the proposed measures. So far, we are only talking about possible options for changes, but the implementation of these initiatives can significantly increase the role of the police in military registration.

Earlier it was reported that territorial recruitment centers began to announce the search for men who received reservations. The issue of new service rules was also considered, according to which demobilization is not provided, but Ukrainians are promised relaxation.

Additionally, there was a discussion of how the mobilization process would change, within the framework of which not only young people, but also older people, could be called up for service.
