In Kyiv, the court replaced Nestor Shufrych from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest

Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of treason, was released from custody and transferred to 24-hour house arrest.

The Shevchenkivskiy District Court of Kyiv supported the defense of the MP from the banned OPZZH party, deciding to change his preventive measure. Shufrych’s lawyer, Valery Bunyak, reported that on January 6, the Kyiv Court of Appeals recognized the possibility of bail in the amount of over 33 million hryvnias instead of detention.

The deputy’s family was able to collect the necessary amount, but it was not possible to make it due to the blocking of payments by the banks, as the documents mentioned sanctions. This situation led to the need to appeal to the court with a request to change the preventive measure, which was granted.

According to the new decision, Shufrych is obliged to stay at the place of registration in the Kyiv region, with exceptions for medical needs or during an air alert. He is also required to wear an electronic bracelet, submit documents for traveling abroad, visit the court and investigative bodies on summons, and not contact witnesses.

The Attorney General’s Office said it opposed changes to the preventive measure, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges related to treason, as well as the existing risks. However, despite the objections of the prosecution, the court ruled in favor of house arrest, which is not subject to appeal.

It should be noted that earlier, on March 11, the same court extended Shufrych’s detention until May 9.
