MPs plan to raise military duty and introduce new taxes
A group of 14 MPs has registered draft law No. 7311, which provides for a double increase in the military tax – from 1.5% to 3%. It is also proposed that the privileges for the import of cars and other goods be canceled.
The changes proposed in the draft law include:
- If the new law is adopted, imports of cars will again require payment of import duties and VAT.
- The military tax will be increased from 1.5% to 3%, with the military and police being exempted from this payment.
- Individual entrepreneurs (IEs) of all groups engaged in imports will not be granted privileges.
- The government plans to refund businesses’ VAT in cash and through domestic bonds.
- Exemptions for charitable aid will be preserved, but only if such aid is channeled through the budget or verified organizations from the state register.
The bill’s authors claim that in just one week, the budget lost UAH 417 million due to tax loopholes. Many people import various unnecessary goods into Ukraine instead of critically needed goods.
Adopting this law may significantly affect the financial situation of those who plan to buy a car at a lower price or work on a simplified taxation system. The military tax will affect almost everyone, except for the country’s defenders.
Support in the Verkhovna Rada is still in question.
