A head-on collision on the highway near Kopaihorod: three dead, eight injured

A tragedy occurred in the Zhmeryn district of Vinnytsia region, in which several people died. The road accident occurred on April 19 at approximately 19:00 on the highway between the villages of Ukrainskoe and Shevchenkove. According to police, a Renault car driven by a 50-year-old resident of the Mogilev-Podilskyi district crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a Mercedes-Benz minibus traveling in the opposite direction, driven by a 36-year-old resident of the Vinnytsia district.

As a result of this collision, the driver of the car died at the scene. Two passengers of the minibus, men aged 27 and 54, died during medical treatment. Eight more people riding in the minibus received various injuries, including two minors aged 12 and 16; all victims were hospitalized.

The police seized both vehicles and placed them in a detention center. Investigators have already scheduled several examinations to determine the cause of the accident. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing as part of criminal proceedings opened under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violation of traffic rules, which led to the death of several people.
