A million in cash, no car, and land for next to nothing — what’s the problem with Natalia Tabaka’s declaration?
Natalia Tabaka, the new head of the State Agency for Tourism Development, declared that she does not have a car, inexpensive land in tourist areas, and almost a million hryvnias in cash. Her financial statements raise questions about the transparency of sources of income and expenses, especially considering her position. The channel of the international detective agency Absolution Leaks reports this.
Natalia Tabaka was appointed head of the State Agency for Tourism Development, and her declaration immediately attracted attention. The document does not indicate a car or the cost of her apartment in Lviv.
Although she holds a responsible position, Tabaka noted that she has no relatives, but she is also a co-owner of the apartment with presumably relatives. This apartment, which has an area of 49.5 sq. m., was purchased in 1998. The cost of this real estate is not reflected in the declaration.
The second object is a house in the village of Zastavne with a total area of 82.5 sq. m, bought in 2009 for 87 thousand UAH. In the same town, Tabaka owns two land plots with an area of 2500 and 3376 sq. m, which were purchased for a symbolic price of 1 UAH. Another plot with an area of 3900 sq. m is located in the tourist area of Volosyanki; it was purchased this year for 70 thousand UAH. For a region near Slavsk, this price looks low.
The complete absence of information about vehicles in the declaration is also surprising. Given that Tabaka works in Lviv and the lands are located in villages, this seems quite strange. Perhaps she uses transport registered for other persons.
In 2024, Tabaka earned 1.13 million UAH in the State Enterprise “General Directorate for Servicing Foreign Missions” and another 24 thousand UAH as a lecturer at the Lviv University of Trade and Economics. The declaration also indicates 23 thousand euros in cash (almost 1 million UAH at the exchange rate). In addition, she declared a loan of 228 thousand UAH received in June 2024.
This loan does not coincide with the purchase of land in Volosyanka in March, which may indicate that financial transactions are not reflected in the declaration.
Tabaka’s biographical data is also of interest: She has teaching experience and headed the tourism department of the Lviv Regional State Administration from 2017 to 2023. Despite her professional competence, questions about the transparency of her assets remain.
2.7 million UAH discrepancies were also found in the declaration of People’s Deputy Torokhtiy.
