Every third pensioner is on the verge of survival: indexation results
In Ukraine, pensions were traditionally indexed, and payments were transferred to working pensioners. However, despite the increase, every third pensioner was on the verge of survival.
As of the beginning of April 2025, 10,331,375 pensioners were recorded in Ukraine, which is 177 thousand less than in the same period last year.
The average pension in the country increased to 6,341 hryvnias after indexation, 10% more than in the previous year. However, inflation, which amounted to 14.6% during this time, actually devalued these increases.
In addition, more than 3 million pensioners receive a pension of 3,340 hryvnias, which indicates their challenging financial situation.
The situation improved only for the least protected pensioners, who received less than 3,000 hryvnias: their number decreased to almost 3.9%. At the same time, 14.5% of pensioners receive more than 10,000 hryvnias, with an average payment of 15,640 hryvnias.
We will remind you that earlier, it was reported about the possible suspension of payments for some Ukrainians and new rules for crediting wartime experience. In addition, pensioners plan to receive an additional payment of 630 hryvnias.
