Financial support for low-income families in May: who can receive it and how much?
Since May 1, 2025, new rules have been introduced in Ukraine for assisting low-income families.
Although the subsistence minimum remains unchanged, payments have increased due to increased percentage coefficients.
Such assistance will be provided to families whose total income does not exceed a certain level, corresponding to the subsistence minimum. The calculation takes into account the individual income of each family member. For example, for a family with two adults and two children (4 and 8 years old), the amount will be UAH 11,815.
In 2025, the level of ensuring the subsistence minimum to assist will be as follows:
for non-disabled persons – 60% (previously 55%);
for children – 145% (previously 140%);
For persons who have lost their ability to work and persons with disabilities – 100%.
This means that, for example, the benefit for a child under 6 years old will now be UAH 3,716.35, and for a child from 6 to 18 years old – UAH 4,634.20.
In 2025, UAH is planned to allocate 19.7 billion UAH to support low-income families.
From March 1, 2024, the government has also expanded the circle of those eligible for assistance.
Now the allowance is assigned to:
- Families who returned to Ukraine after an extended stay abroad (more than 90 days);
- Internally displaced persons who could not work or pay the Unified Social Contribution.
However, to stimulate economic independence, non-disabled unemployed family members must find a job or register with an employment center within two months of receiving the benefit.
This program continues despite the difficult situation caused by the war and aims to support the most vulnerable segments of the population.
Recall that new rules for social payments, benefits, and subsidies will come into force in 2025. The issue of possible new financial assistance for Ukrainians is also being considered.
