Warning for 17-year-olds: how to go abroad without complications

17-year-old Ukrainians can travel abroad without restrictions, but under certain conditions. To do this, they need to have a valid international passport and be on military registration, according to information from the law firm.

Lawyer Vyacheslav Kyrda emphasizes that young men turning 17 in 2025 must register for military service by July 31. This can be done in person at the territorial recruitment center or through the “Reserve +” mobile application. After this period, registration will be possible only in person.

It should be noted that 17-year-old boys are not subject to mobilization and can travel independently outside the country. However, during the transformation of the border, border guards may require confirmation of their stay on military registration, which may be in the form of a registration certificate or an electronic document in the “Reserve +” application.

Failure to comply with the obligation to register for military service may result in administrative liability, and the fine for violation will range from 17,000 to 25,500 hryvnias.

It is also worth remembering that if it were not for Russia’s aggression, the issue of mobilization would not have become so controversial. Many Ukrainians in the occupied territories are subjected to forced mobilization, and refusal can lead to fatal consequences. History teaches us that insufficient defense can lead to disaster, and today we must actively support the Armed Forces of Ukraine to prevent a repeat of the tragedy.

It is essential to understand that general mobilization is a forced measure to protect the state in wartime. Military commissions operate within the limits of the rights granted to them, and their activities are part of efforts to ensure national security.
