Kateryna Kotenkova explained who is at risk of losing the benefit for paying for housing and utilities

A journalist on the Znay.ua channel noted that pensioners without benefits must spend a significant part of their pension on housing and communal services. Because of this, the state offers the opportunity to apply for subsidies for gas, water, electricity, and other utility costs for such persons.

Ukraine plans to change the procedure for checking recipients of benefits for communal services. According to a new draft order published on the Federation of Trade Unions website, checks may lead to the cancellation of benefits. It is planned to check the legality of receiving benefits for 1 million people. The Pension Fund, together with local authorities, will carry out this, comparing data from various registers, for example, regarding place of residence, disability, or veteran status. If discrepancies are found, benefits will be terminated.

In addition, new criteria have been introduced for calculating benefits since the beginning of this year. Benefits will be provided only to individuals whose average monthly family income for the last six months does not exceed 4,240 hryvnias.
