“May 15 as a day of great hopes”: an expert shared his thoughts on a possible ceasefire
Oleksandr Musienko: Putin continues to ignore calls for a ceasefire
The expert notes in his post that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not fulfilled the promises related to the peace talks discussed with European partners. He emphasizes that calls for a ceasefire will have no effect, and the aggressor will continue his actions.
Musienko warns that the approaching meeting of the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul on May 15 may lead to military action by Russia. The expert believes that on the eve of this event, Putin may resort to missile and drone attacks on the territory of Ukraine to demonstrate his capabilities to the international community.
According to the analyst, the West’s lack of concrete actions, particularly the introduction of new sanctions against Russia, proves that Putin has no intention of agreeing to peace. He believes that Russia is seeking to drag out the conflict until the fall to observe the results of the summer campaign before discussing the possibility of a ceasefire that would meet its conditions.
Musienko concludes that the highly anticipated May 15 is unlikely to bring about change, as Russia is not interested in establishing peace.
