Help for Ukrainians on Independence Day

By Ukraine’s Independence Day, military personnel, veterans, and families of fallen heroes can receive a one-time cash benefit.

The benefit is provided until August 24, 2025, but only those with confirmed status can receive it.

The amount of payments depends on the category. Persons with disabilities as a result of the war will receive the most significant amount of assistance – 3,100 hryvnias for Group I, 2,900 hryvnias for Group II, and 2,700 hryvnias for Group III. Participants in hostilities, victims of the Maidan, children of the repressed, and prisoners of camps will receive 1,000 hryvnias each.

Families of fallen defenders, including wives or husbands, will be able to receive 650 hryvnias. The smallest amount, 450 hryvnias, is intended for participants in the war, forcibly deported, and children of partisans.

Pensioners already included in the Pension Fund of Ukraine database will receive funds automatically. Others must apply for their account on the PFU portal or contact a fund department or ASN. The application must include a passport or other document confirming identity, documents confirming status, and an IBAN account and code.

If the veteran status or participation in hostilities is not confirmed by August 24, or the person is not registered with the PFU, problems will arise. In this case, the Pension Fund may refuse to pay, as it uses only official lists.

Despite the military aggression by Russia, Ukraine continues to support defenders and families of the deceased, and the authorities are working to ensure timely payments.

Earlier, it was reported that a one-time payment of up to 3,100 hryvnias would be transferred by the end of the summer.
