Kateryna Kotenkova shared her predictions for changes in gas prices before the new heating season
The journalist reported that, according to the GazPravda platform, Ukraine’s annual natural gas consumption is approximately 20 billion cubic meters, of which more than 8 billion cubic meters are used by the population, which comprises over 12 million households.
“Although in the last two winter seasons, the country has almost done without importing gas, this year the situation is quite difficult. As Mr. Popenko noted in his interview, everything is complicated. Underground storage facilities are almost empty, and Ukraine has again started purchasing gas from abroad. This is a paradox: having our gas, we have to buy it,” Kateryna Kotenkova drew attention.
As GazPravda reports, the journalist said that gas imports have already begun. It is known that Naftogaz has signed contracts for the supply of 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas for 2025, and in total, it is planned to import more than 4.5 billion cubic meters by the end of winter.
“Despite imports, the price of gas for the population remains stable – 7.96 per cubic meter. This is good news since tariffs will not increase,” Kateryna Kotenkova concluded.
