In Ukraine, payments at the birth of a child will be increased to 50 thousand hryvnias for each family

Ukraine plans to increase the amount of child support for each family to 50,000 hryvnias. This information was published by Danylo Getmantsev, the head of the parliamentary finance committee, on his Telegram channel.

He noted that the bill currently under discussion will be a significant step in resolving the demographic situation in the country. “This is an important step: payments for each newborn child will be increased to 50,000 hryvnias. Work on the legislation is currently underway, but this is certainly positive news,” Getmantsev emphasized.

According to him, this step will be only the first stage in the fight against the demographic crisis because, in the future, it is planned to introduce a progressive system under which the amount of support for each subsequent child will increase.

Getmantsev also recalled the bill he submitted back in 2021, which provided for the following payments: 50,000 hryvnias for the first child, 100,000 for the second, and 150,000 for the third.

The implementation of this program requires approximately 12 billion hryvnias of budget expenditures. Hetmantsev is confident in the feasibility of these financial obligations despite the need for additional funds. At the same time, he criticized some opposition proposals, which, in his opinion, are rather populist.

“My proposal is not as cumbersome as that of some colleagues who demand an increase in payments for the birth of the first child to almost 400 thousand hryvnias, leaving the issue of financing unsettled. This is not constructive,” he added.

Hetmantsev also noted that when developing legal initiatives, it is necessary to consider the state budget’s capabilities. He finds it essential that the authorities do not overlook serious demographic challenges and take prompt measures to improve the demographic situation.
