Noisy controversy surrounding Ramina’s show: Alkhim and Mandziuk became the cause of discussion
The Ukrainian media is actively discussing the conversation between bloggers Anna Alkhym and Olena Mandziuk in Ramina Eskhakzai’s studio. The broadcast raised issues of language, Russian cultural content, and the participants’ positions, causing a mixed reaction among Ukrainians.
Criticism also affected the presenter who organized this meeting. Some viewers perceived the program as an attempt to justify Alkhym’s actions, providing her with the opportunity to express her controversial opinions.
Show business commentator Bohdan Bespalov ironically compared this meeting to “negotiations between Russia and Ukraine,” emphasizing that Alkhym acts as the musician in such a dynamic, Mandziuk represents the Ukrainian side, and Ramina serves as the mediator.
War veteran and participant of the 13th season of the show “The Bachelor” Oleksandr “Teren” Budko supported Olena Mandziuk, emphasizing:
“It’s easy to criticize, but it’s harder to change. Thank you, Olena, for your activism.”
In turn, veteran, lawyer, and activist Oleh Symoroz spoke out against this discussion.
“You shouldn’t sit at the same table with traitors to the state… I don’t understand what benefit a video with Alkhym can bring,” he noted.
In response to the reaction, Mandziuk noted that she had accepted the invitation to the program to draw attention to the government’s inaction in protecting language and culture.
On the air, Alkhym admitted that she respects the Ukrainian language, but she primarily communicates in Russian because it is more convenient for her. Mandziuk, in turn, stated that until 2016, she also spoke Russian, but since then, she has switched to Ukrainian.
Regarding music from the Russian Federation, Alkhym indicated that she continues to listen to some performers but will not support those who openly support aggression. Mandziuk agreed, adding that such issues should be regulated by law.
The conflict surrounding Anna Alkhym began after her reaction to a request to perform a Ukrainian song during the christening of blogger Stasya Makeeva, which caused outrage among guests and social media users. Among the critics was Olena Mandziuk, who appealed to the SBU, accusing Alkhym of promoting pro-Russian sentiments and neglecting the state language.
