Attack on UAV factory in Yelabuga: drones in the skies of Tatarstan
On the morning of June 15, 2025, drone activity was recorded in Yelabuga (Tatarstan, Russia). The local administration declared a UAV emergency at 06:30, as reported by Russian news agencies. Residents have noted the appearance of drones in the city and its neighboring town of Chistopol.
Yelabuga is home to a plant for the production of attack drones, including “Shahid” drones. The enterprise was built in 2023 on the territory of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. According to Russian media, this plant was the target of the strike.
So far, the Russian Defense Ministry has not provided official comments on the incident in Tatarstan but previously reported the downing of six Ukrainian UAVs in other regions of the country.
This is not the first incident in Yelabuga – on June 10, the region suffered a large-scale attack by kamikaze drones. Then explosions were heard in the air, and Russian air defenses tried to shoot down the drones. After this attack, access to the industrial zone was restricted, and communication disruptions were recorded.
At the same time, news is coming in about the destruction by Israeli forces of an Iranian drone factory in Isfahan, where the Shahed drones, which Iran supplies to Russia for the war against Ukraine, were also manufactured.
Additionally, it was announced that the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to involve volunteers from the Terroir Defense in combating Russian drones.
