Iran is ready to give up nuclear weapons, but will not give up its rights to nuclear research

Iran has expressed its readiness to conclude an agreement aimed at preventing the creation of nuclear weapons in the country. However, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, emphasized that Tehran will not accept conditions that restrict its legitimate rights to nuclear research.

This statement was made against the background of growing pressure from Western countries and intensified diplomatic efforts aimed at limiting Iran’s nuclear program. Araqchi noted that readiness for negotiations will remain within the framework of respect for Iranian sovereignty and rights, as enshrined in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

The minister also confirmed that Iran does not intend to escalate the conflict in the region or with other states, but in the event of aggression, it is ready to defend itself. He noted: “If aggression stops, our reactions will also stop.”

During a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Tehran, an Iranian official said: “Our strikes on Israeli military and economic targets were a response to their attacks on our economic interests.” He also described the attack on Asaluyuh as a strategic mistake that led to an escalation of the conflict in the Persian Gulf, which could cause regional and global escalation.
