Енергетики проведуть перевірку житлових приміщень споживачів: хто може отримати штрафи

Energy experts will inspect consumers’ residential premises: who may receive fines

As of July 1, 2024, new rules governing the use of electricity for the population have been introduced in Ukraine.

According to these changes, consumers who use electricity for non-domestic needs may be subject to recalculations and fines. Experts from Zakarpattiaoblenergo provide this information.

Energy experts emphasize that the population can use electricity exclusively for personal needs. Suppose electricity is used for entrepreneurial activities, such as providing paid services, organizing economic activities, operating data centers, or in sectors like mining and tourism. In that case, this is classified as non-domestic use.

In this case, the consumer is required to notify their electricity supplier and enter into an appropriate contract at a commercial tariff.

What consequences may arise in case of violation?

Energy companies have the right to conduct inspections, and if it is found that electricity is being misused, the following measures are possible:

recalculation for electricity consumed for the last 6 months;
transition to a commercial tariff, which is significantly higher than the household tariff.
Accordingly, the consumer will be required to pay an additional charge for all electricity used in the context of commercial activities.
