The head of the Lviv region’s judicial security was caught taking bribes for employment

The head of the Judicial Security Service department in the Lviv region, Volodymyr Semenyna, was detained for accepting a bribe of $4,000. According to the investigation, he demanded this money in exchange for help in finding a job in law enforcement agencies.

Initially, Semenyna offered his services to an acquaintance, but realizing he was unable to help, he redirected the offer to the Judicial Security Service, which he headed. For his “assistance,” he demanded $4,000, which he was supposed to receive through an intermediary.

Volodymyr Semenyna, together with an accomplice, was suspected under Part Three of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for receiving an unlawful benefit by an official in a prior conspiracy.

Semenya has headed the regional department of the Judicial Security Service since 2019. He previously worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he held several important positions, including heading the Ternopil Oblast Traffic Police and the Lviv Oblast Traffic Police. His ties with General Vasyl Pisny, the former chief police officer of the Lviv Oblast, became a public topic, as it was Semenyna who donated Pisny a plot of land for construction in 2008. In 2014, he was appointed head of the Chernivtsi Oblast Traffic Police, but this decision sparked public protests.

Before taking up his current position, Semenyna worked as an assistant to the head of the National Police and in the Department of Security Police.
