Russia struck an energy facility in the Kherson region: likely consequences in the form of a long-term power outage

On June 27, Russian troops struck a vital energy facility in the Kherson region, the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported.

As a result of the attack, power supply issues arose in several settlements in the region.

“I ask the residents of the region to prepare for a possible long-term power outage,” Prokudin said.

He also reported that energy workers are actively working to stabilize the situation, but the scale of the damage could lead to a prolonged blackout.

This attack was not the first, as in recent weeks, Russian troops have regularly shelled the energy infrastructure of the Kherson region. For example, on June 19, a Khersonoblenergo employee died as a result of shelling, and on June 11, large areas were left without electricity as a result of the attack.

Regular strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine are aimed at increasing pressure on the civilian population and destabilizing the operation of critical infrastructure.

Residents of the Kherson region are advised to stock up on water, charge their devices, prepare flashlights, power banks, and extra batteries, and closely monitor news from local authorities and energy companies.
