The hryvnia will depreciate: an expert predicted an increase in the dollar exchange rate

In the coming months, Ukrainians should expect a gradual increase in the US dollar exchange rate.

Sergey Mamedov, Chairman of the Board of Globus Bank, reported that by the end of 2025, the official exchange rate of the US dollar is expected to reach 43-44 hryvnias. According to him, the national currency may depreciate by 2.5-5% during the second half of the year.

The expert reassured that one should not expect sharp fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. Ukraine adheres to “managed flexibility,” which enables the avoidance of currency crises.

“All exchange rate corrections are taking place gradually, without sharp jumps,” the banker noted.

According to Mamedov, several factors will significantly affect the exchange rate and the banking system in the second half of 2025:

a decrease in inflation, which is expected to be about 9% per year;

economic growth, forecast at 3%;

The need for external financing, which is $38-40 billion annually.

The stability of the foreign exchange market largely depends on timely assistance from international partners and adequate monetary policy of the NBU.
