Changes in Accounts: Some Ukrainians may set additional utilities
As of August 1, residents of Poltava will be required to start making a new monthly payment for garbage collection. At the same time, this is not officially considered an increase in the tariff, but it will result in higher monthly costs for consumers. These changes were reported by Alexander Ovcharenko, the director of KATP-1628, at a briefing held in the Poltava City Council. He explained that the new fee is not related to the increase in the cost of the service, but rather to separate expenses for administration, such as accounting, SMS, and postal expenses.
Under the new rules, the salary will be UAH 5.14 per month for all households, regardless of the number of residents registered with them, and legal entities will be charged the same amount. This fee will be displayed as a separate item in the payments section.
This innovation is based on Resolution No. 808 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, dated August 21, 2019, which provides for the introduction of payment for administrative services in the field of housing and communal services. Previously, these costs were included in the total tariff; however, starting in 2023, they will be accrued separately.
Thus, although the official tariffs remain unchanged, the increase in consumer prices will be noticeable, especially for pensioners, single individuals, and low-income families.
