New details of the Russian strike on the colony in Zaporizhia: the number of victims has increased

Roman Bochkala expressed his outrage over the airstrike carried out by Russian troops on the Bilenkivska correctional colony, which resulted in the deaths of 17 people and the injury of 42 others.

On July 28, 2025, Russian troops struck a correctional colony in the Zaporizhia region. According to the head of the Public Council of the Odessa OVA, Serhiy Bratchuk, as a result of this attack, 17 convicts were killed and 42 were injured. All of them were locked in the institution without any possibility of escape, which makes this attack a new act of war crimes committed by the Russian Federation.

Bochkala also commented on this tragedy, emphasizing the cruelty of the situation and the feelings of people who found themselves in this critical circumstance. He noted: “When there is no chance of escape. It is scary even to imagine.”

The journalist noted that such crimes are so horrific that modern plots of TV shows such as “The Squid Game” begin to look like a child’s fantasy. “We live in terrible times, my friends. The cynical torture depicted in the series, against the background of the acts of cruelty committed by Putinists, seems like child’s play,” he added.

Despite the difficult situation, the Ministry of Justice and the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine are taking all necessary measures to maintain order and help the victims. The State Penitentiary Service emphasized that this case is a vivid example of how international norms and laws are being grossly ignored, and confirms Russia’s constant attacks on civilian infrastructure, in particular on penitentiary institutions, which is a gross war crime.
