Charge your power banks and prepare your generators: Ministry of Energy’s warning regarding electricity supply

As of today, electricity production in Ukraine has significantly improved compared to the summer period of 2024. First Deputy Minister of Energy Yuriy Sheiko stated this. According to him, at the moment, no power outages are expected for either the population or enterprises. However, it is impossible to completely rule out the possibility of restrictions, since the Russian side may resume attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Sheiko also noted that energy workers have restored the operation of many power units at thermal power plants, and this process is ongoing. All power systems, including nuclear, thermal, and hydroelectric power plants, are operating without failures. Currently, existing capacities are sufficient to meet the needs of both the population and industry.

However, risks remain. “If Russia launches new attacks on the energy system, difficulties may arise,” he emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that the recent hot days have led to an increase in electricity consumption. However, the system remains balanced.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of 2024, there have been no power outages for the population. In early 2025, several emergency power outages were carried out in response to attacks on energy facilities, while in the spring of 2025, restrictions only applied to business and industry.
