Ukraine is losing talented youth: MES reports who most often emigrates
Many school graduates who have received diplomas decide to go abroad. In particular, a significant part of them are winners of Olympiads, sources report.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Yevhen Kudryavets noted that although the majority of Olympiad winners choose to live outside Ukraine, the ministry does not consider this situation catastrophic. “I cannot say that this is a critical trend, if we talk about the number. Olympiad winners make up a fairly significant share – more than 50%,” he said.
Kudryavets drew attention to the fact that the state does not track the fate of all graduates, but problems with youth flight exist, and they cannot be ignored. He stressed that to return those who have already left, or to create conditions for their return, Ukraine needs to win the war: “First of all, to return the children, or to provide conditions for their stay, we need to end the war. This is what will help bring the youth back to the country.” He added that this is not only a matter of building new shelters.
In addition, despite the difficulties, the government must create opportunities for young people: “We have a unique chance shortly – this is an opportunity to do many new things, establish projects or join processes that are much more difficult to implement abroad,” Kudryavets summed up.
According to previous news, applicants have received information about significant changes, including a reduction in competitive scores. It has also been announced that subsidies may be canceled even for those who receive a small amount of funds, and educational experts have warned young people against enrolling in foreign universities.
