Prices are similar, but salaries are significantly different: comparison of product costs in Ukraine and the USA
Bloggers compared food prices in Ukraine and the United States, and got some unexpected results. Despite the tenfold higher average salary in the United States, the prices of essential goods there were almost on par with Ukrainian ones.
The video shows that the average salary in the United States is about $4,500, while in Ukraine it is approximately $450. A grocery basket made up of basic goods turned out to be only $1.50 more expensive in the United States.
The comparison took into account the basic products: bread, milk, eggs, cereals, meat, and vegetables. Unexpectedly, the difference in their cost was relatively insignificant.
This once again emphasizes the financial burden that Ukrainian families experience with such incomes. Although the prices of products are almost the same, the share of food expenses in Ukraine significantly exceeds that in the United States.
The results of the experiment once again emphasize the importance of the ratio of income to expenses, and not just the prices themselves.
Food prices in Ukraine have approached the level of prices in EU countries in recent years. In Ukraine, they already exceed those of neighboring countries, including Romania, Slovakia, and Turkey.
