During a press conference, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to meet with Vladimir Putin. He initially announced that he would travel to Russia on Friday, but later clarified that the talks would take place on US soil, where the Russian leader would arrive.

Trump stressed that during this meeting, he would insist on the need to end the war started by Russia against Ukraine. He stressed, “I want to see peace. The goal is to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Maybe we will meet next week as well. I feel that we have a good relationship with him (Putin). He would like to be involved in this, and I believe that he wants to end the conflict.”

The meeting between Trump and Putin is scheduled to take place in Alaska on August 15. The place of the negotiation session is being actively discussed on social networks.

According to Alaska Landmine, the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood is a likely location for the talks. The resort is reportedly booked for August 12-16.

Open since 1994, Alyeska Resort offers 299 rooms in a castle-style architecture. Its accommodations include the Black Diamond Suite Retreat, which starts at $4,845 per night.

The resort has eight restaurants, including Seven Glaciers, which offers panoramic views and modern Alaskan cuisine, and Sakura, which serves rolls and sushi made with locally sourced ingredients.

Girdwood is an hour’s drive from Anchorage, nestled among the scenic Chugach Mountains and Turnehan Bay. It is popular for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. Anchorage, especially Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, is another option being considered for the meeting.
