Ukrainians were explained why they don’t need to pay for this procedure
According to the GazPravda consulting center, the responsibility for regular inspection of gas meters lies with gas distribution network operators (GDMs). This is significantly different from water supply, where users more often bear the inspection costs.
The frequency of inspections depends on the meter model and can be 2 or 8 years. Consumers do not need to independently finance, order, or monitor this procedure, since the GDM operator performs all these actions.
The work carried out by the operator includes: dismantling the meter, transporting it for inspection, checking its operability, reinstalling it, and, if necessary, repairing it. All these services are free of charge for the consumer, even if the device was purchased by him personally. The only exception is cases when interference with the meter is detected – in this case, fines may be imposed and consumption recalculated.
Every household connected to the gas system (has an EIS code) is required to be equipped with a gas meter. Although the installation is carried out by the GRM operator, in some regions it is carried out more slowly or stopped altogether during wartime. The consumer can also purchase a meter on their own, but the costs for this are not compensated. In apartment buildings, the installation of a standard device is possible only with the consent of all co-owners.
The GRM operator is responsible for accurate accounting of gas consumption. The supplier uses its data to generate payments. If there are doubts about the correctness of the charges, it is worth contacting the GRM with a written complaint – the data must be verified and a report drawn up within 15 working days. Regular submission of readings is the key to correct charges, even if gas is not consumed.
